Denver Broncos Helmet Reveal

Tasked with bringing the icy, dramatic vision of a "white out" to life, we had just three weeks to ideate and execute. The result? A breathtaking, hand-sculpted ice throne that commanded attention on the feeds.

A football player wearing a Denver Broncos uniform with the number 31 is sitting on a throne made of ice. The player is dressed in an orange jersey and pants, white gloves, and white cleats. The ice throne is intricately carved and illuminated from above, creating a dramatic and cool atmosphere with a blue background. Snow is scattered around the base of the throne.

The launch campaign was awarded a regional Emmy for Short Form Content, cementing the project as a standout example of how powerful, immersive design can connect with its audience on a meaningful level.

Strategy

Since this piece was going to be the grand reveal of the retro-style white helmets, we wanted to ensure that the helmets wouldn’t get lost in the sea of white. We took inspiration from early-morning uphill skiers who rise and grind to ascend to new heights with lights on their helmets for a personal spotlight. While that was the mentality we wanted to portray, we also wanted to ensure there was movement and subtle pieces of movement to add to the scenes including falling “snow” and the subtle rim light movement behind the throne.

Process

With a tight three-week timeline, our team jumped into action, working with the Broncos team to determine what was realistic in regards to sourcing the materials to bring the vision of a “white out” with snow or ice to life, without access to players. We mutually fell in love with the concept of an ice throne and we experimented with glass and plexi to see if we could fake the build. Turns out, true ice sculpting is less expensive (and better for the environment!) We meticulously sculpted the throne from ice, ensuring every detail reflected the stark elegance of the concept. To enhance the atmosphere, we engineered a snow-fall effect and shaped a dramatic spotlight that bathed the throne in moody, cinematic lighting. The result was an immersive set that allowed the white helmet to stand out as the center of the piece.
